Pass-and-swap queues

چکیده

Order-independent (OI) queues, introduced by Berezner, Kriel, and Krzesinski in 1995, expanded the family of multi-class queues that are known to have a product-form stationary distribution allowing for intricate class-dependent service rates. This paper further broadens this introducing pass-and-swap (P&S) an extension OI where, upon completion, customer completes is not necessarily one leaves system. More precisely, we supplement queue model with undirected graph on classes, which call swapping graph, such there edge between two classes if customers these can be swapped another. When service, it passes over remainder until finds swap positions with, is, whose class neighbor graph. In its turn, ejected from position takes next so on. repeated no longer find another with; queue. After proving P&S distribution, derive necessary sufficient stability condition (open networks of) also applies queues. We then study irreducibility properties closed corresponding distribution. Lastly, demonstrate applied describe dynamics new existing load-distribution scheduling protocols clusters machines jobs assignment constraints.

Swap logic

We investigate dynamic modal operators that can change the model during evaluation. We define the logic SL by extending the basic modal language with the ♦ modality, which is a diamond operator that in addition has the ability to invert pairs of related elements in the domain while traversing an edge of the accessibility relation. SL is very expressive: it fails to have the finite and the tree ...

Swap Bribery

In voting theory, bribery is a form of manipulative behavior in which an external actor (the briber) offers to pay the voters to change their votes in order to get her preferred candidate elected. We investigate a model of bribery where the price of each vote depends on the amount of change that the voter is asked to implement. Specifically, in our model the briber can change a voter’s preferen...

Physical Node 1 VAS Memory Swap Persistent Swap Persistent

In large persistent object systems it is possible to have many million (or eventually billion or more) objects in existence. These objects must be managed to enable their eeective and convenient use. At the heart of this management problem is the structure which maintains information about the objects and provides services on the objects using the information it maintains. We refer to this stru...

Swap Rates and Credit Quality

The impact of credit quality on swap rates is determined under alternative netting assumptions. With counterparties of different default risk, swap valuation is non-linear in the underlying promised exchange of cash flows. The impact of credit risk asymmetry and of netting is presented through both theory and numerical examples, which include interest rate and currency swaps.
